Online/Blended Teacher

What do you perceive to be the biggest challenge for you individually in shifting to become an online/blended teacher?

Blended Learning has developed into an important pedagogical shift for teaching and learning. Effective blended learning causes the role of the teacher to change. In a blended context, teachers need to exhibit many of the same skills that would be expect in a traditional school model. But there are a number of behaviors and skills that are heightened, like effective planning and collaboration with colleagues. Blended learning requires us, teachers to work in teams to plan and test new instructional practices and carefully assess their efficacy, while making thoughtful adjustments along the way. We now more than ever have to ensure rigorous content is being taught and that the technology is being used to extend students’ learning opportunities.

Which blended learning model is most likely what you'll implement in your own classroom and why?

The Station Rotation model will be the one most likely that I will implement in my classroom. This model allows students to rotate through stations on a fixed schedule, where at least one of the stations is an online learning station. This model is most common in elementary schools, because I am already familiar with rotating in “centers” or stations, this model will a great one to start.
